Dear Intervac friends,

we are the family Handl, Franz, 70, retired, and Elisabeth, 64, retired.

We like to travel, to sing, play and dance, especially austrian folk (Elisabeth has a own singer group, she also plays piano, akkordeon, flute and an instrument like the hammered dulcimer, called Hackbrett, Franz is playing diatonic accordeon, our daughter Elisabeth is very good in skiing and skating (she was skating through Paris in the night two times, now she is studying chemistry in Vienna), Franz is riding a motorbike and shooting with old muzzleloading arms for sport and he is director of an museum for historical shooting targets since 1569 in Scheibbs, we have had exchanges with France, the Nederlands, Belgium, Danmark, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Czechia. We live in a part of lower austria, called “Mostviertel” (“Most” is fruit wine, like cidre), in the middle of austria between styria, upper and lower austria. The department is “Scheibbs” (car: SB), 25km north is the danube. We are living in the alps, we have mountains, canyons and a great area for walking. We are in a national park, called “Kulturpark Ötscherland Eisenstraße”, we are important for historical iron-production. We are living near the Mariazellerbahn, station Winterbach.

Near of us you find the danube with the wine country Wachau (40km), Vienna (130km), Linz (100km) and Graz (140km). Next town is Scheibbs (8km), the capital St. Pölten is 50km, the monastery Melk is 40km, the important church of Mariazell is 40km. The next airport is Vienna.

St.Anton is a small village with 1200 inhabitants, most of them are farmers and are living around, we have a shop, a catholic church and an inn. We have an own mountain area for our cows in summer, the “Hochbärneck”.

The next city is Scheibbs with 5000 inhabitants (8km), here you find all (Banks, supermarkets, swimming bath, gastronomy,...)

Our house is in typical austrian style with all applications, built in the eighties, you are living at a height of 450m, you have some neighbours and a lot of wood and nature, and if you want, a cat. We have 2 bedrooms, one with double bed and one with 2 single beds, 1 bathroom, livingkitchen, sitting-room, television, WIFI/WLAN unlimited download, working-room, a big terrace with a small wooden house and a cellar. We are living very rural.
